Grinding
Grinding is a high-precision machining process used to refine the dimensions and surface finish of metal parts.
The benefits of grinding
- Dimensional Precision: Allows very tight tolerances to be achieved, often in the micrometer range.
- Surface Finish: Produces very smooth surfaces with minimal roughness.
- Improved Mechanical Properties: Eliminates surface defects and residual stresses, increasing the durability of parts.
- Versatility: Applied to a variety of materials, including steels, alloys, ceramics and composites.
The principle of grinding
It consists of removing small quantities of material using an abrasive wheel to achieve the desired dimensional tolerances and surface finishes. With several years of experience, we offer our know-how in grinding for the main industrial sectors: aeronautics, hydroelectricity, steel, and agri-food.
Types of Grinding offered:
- Flat Grinding:
- Used to obtain perfectly flat surfaces.
- The part is placed on a magnetic table or workholding device, and a grinding wheel rotates to remove the material.
- Cylindrical Grinding:
- Used for exterior or interior cylindrical surfaces.
- The part rotates around its axis while the grinding wheel removes material to obtain precise dimensions.
- Centerless Grinding:
- Used for cylindrical parts without fixing the part on the central axis.
The part is supported between a regulating wheel and a working wheel, allowing continuous machining. We work on a variety of materials including:
- Steels
- Aluminium
- Non-ferrous metals
- Chromium
- Molybdenum
- Carbide
- Ceramics
